Thursday Night Training

Our Thursday night training sessions have been going for two years now and if you haven’t ever given them a try then maybe now is the time. After six months or so of pounding round the canoeing lake or up East Hill Road we’re all looking forward to spreading out onto different training surfaces and locations after the shift to BST as we can now train in the light.

Over the next few weeks there will be a range of session that will be good for first-timers as they won’t be long repetitions such as pyramids or out-and-backs. The sessions are on every Thursday and we usually meet either on the grass above the car park at Appley or outside the rowing club but we will occasionally go to other places such as the track at Sandown or fell running in Ventnor! I’m aiming to post an update on here most weeks as to what and where the session will be.

There really is no better way to get faster and fitter than hard training and each session is an hour of hard running (note hard running is hard whatever speed you run, you DO NOT have to be fast to join us) but with a warm-up and cool-down. Our group is very varied speed and age wise, as well as very encouraging, so come and along and give it a go, it will make you faster if you stick with it. You do not have to be club member to join in.

This week’s session will be a set of 400metre repetitions and starts, as usual, at 6:30pm. If you are late, look for us warming up around the park. Meet outside Ryde Rowing Club.
