Welcome! Get fitter, have fun, meet new people and try something new!
Back for a second year, this course runs for 8 weeks and is aimed at complete beginners, over 16 years old, who want to start running, get fitter and build up to running 5k (about 3 miles). It starts on 25th April 2017.
What can I expect?
Expect to meet other people of all ages, shapes and sizes who have the common interest in wanting to learn to run and to get fitter. Our qualified and experienced leaders from Ryde Harriers will make these sessions fun and based on last year’s experiences, the course is very sociable.
What do I need to wear?
You don’t need to invest in any fancy or expensive equipment. You will need a pair of trainers and for the ladies, a sports bra. Please wear something you will be comfortable running in such as leggings or shorts and a t-shirt or vest top. Be prepared to get hot and sweaty!
Can I sign up if I have a medical condition?
We recommend that you get clearance from your doctor before signing up. The course starts off gently and gradually builds over the 8 weeks so you can progress at a pace that suits you. Please let the course leader know about any conditions you have and what measures need to be taken if you fall ill during the course.
How far will we run?
By the end of the 8 week course you will run 5k (about 3 miles). All sessions will take place from the clubhouse. You will run this at your own pace but the sessions are designed so that no-one is left behind. This is a friendly course.
